Qualifying Offer Calculator

Qualifying offers (QO) are a one year contract that teams must offer to their players who are not UFA-eligible, in order to retain their right of first refusal. The value of a QO is determined as a function of whether or not the player meets the qualifying offer "Starter Criteria", their previous contract type, and their draft position.
A player is designated Starter Criteria if they have completed their 4th year of their Rookie-Scale contract, or for non-Rookie-Scale players, have earned at minimum two Years of Service, and meet one of the following requirements:
  1. Started 41 regular season games or more in the most recent season
  2. Averaged starting 41 regular season games or more over the past two seasons
  3. Played 2000 regular season minutes or more in the most recent season
  4. Played an average of 2000 regular season minutes or more over the past two seasons
This calculator projects starter criteria when the current season is not complete (e.g. if 50% of the season is complete, the games started will be doubled). If a contract expires in a future season, the most recent season is used to project the starter criteria status. The calculator will start using the current seasons stats when the season is 15% complete.

  1. 135% of the previous salary if the contract was signed on or after the start of the 2023-24 Salary Cap Year. 125% if the contract was signed prior to the 2023-24 Salary Cap Year [CBA Article XI Section 1 (e) (iv)]
  2. Minimum salary contract + $200,000
